World's Longest Yard Sale

I had never heard of the World's Longest Yard Sale until I moved here to Ky.
Every year in Aug this sale starts and my husband and I look forward to it!
I take some of my fridge magnet flowers I create from pencil shavings and pass them out, along with my business cards.
I try to be very selective to whom I give them to, because they are very time consuming to make.
We have met some very interesting people from all over the world every year.
As I was looking at pictures for the blog, it made me want to go even more, and I am "chomping at the bits' to go this year!
There are many more pictures that will give you an idea of what it's about.. You can Google it and find more info. Just Google Hwy 127 Sale.

This is what the advertisement states about the Hwy 127 Sale, which it is also called, because it's on the 127 corridor

It is aptly titled, “The Worlds Longest Yard Sale!” Every year individuals clean out their closets and stake out their front yards along the Hwy 127 corridor stretching over 690 miles from Addison, Michigan to Gadsden, Alabama. They band together as communities, in groups or as individuals and over a four-day weekend they welcome the onslaught of visitors from the North, South East and West. It is a mutual exchange of cultures with a common goal; to look, buy and sale! As you transverse the country roads, you will hear a collection of dialects, be privy to incredible stories related to the individuals and the items they sale and see a plethora of items that only your grandmother could love. Most importantly, I think most come to see the unusual and socialize. It is Americana at it’s best.

NOW 690 MILES!
From 5 Miles North of Addison, Michigan
to Gadsden, Alabama

It is headquartered in Jamestown, Tennessee but goes from West Unity, Ohio to Gadsden, Alabama.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people travel Highway 127 looking for bargains from homeowners, professional dealers and vendors.

Since it is over 600 miles, there are very lovely scenery to be had along the way.

People set up all along the sides of the hwy in tents and Rv's to sell their treasures

There are LOTS to choose from and serious Yard Sellers. Last year the guys from American Pickers, Frank and Mike, came to find their own picks here.

  1. Very cool. I recently moved to Tennessee, and only when I moved down here did I hear about the sale as well. Last year I was trying to make a go of it with some craft fairs in the area. This year I think I will hit this amazing yard sale instead.

  6. How fun! I try to go to TN over Labor Day for one they have there, but it's not 600 miles. I don't think I have enough money to do 600 miles of yard sales.

  7. I've always wanted to attend this event and I'm not too far away, but every year something comes up that does not allow me to attend... I look forward to seeing some of your finds when you return...
