What makes sucess?

I have always admired women who have become a success in business.
I always dreamed when I was younger, of running a big corporate business company, and being one of those successful women.
As I got older and life took over, my dreams changed but I still admire these successful women.
Oprah, Katie Couric, Margaret Thatcher, These are just a few who come to mind. I think I admire them for their tenacity, intelligence, and personality.
I also admire men who are successful as well.
I feel some of these might have made it by stepping on others toes, which will make you hard hearted if your not careful.
At one point in time I was going to start going to school for Real Estate when I lived in Idaho. Since I have done a lot of sales, I called my former employer, and asked her what she thought. She said "Go for it!" You will be do great in that field.. She had started selling Real Estate herself, then she warned me it was a "cut throat" business.Well, I don't like "cut throat"... I don't LIKE anything where you can't trust the people you are working with..
So, I probably wouldn't have been successful at being a business woman, if that is part of what it takes.
I would have "called out" every backstabber I came in contact with and confronted them. Saying that, I don't guess I would have made a very good politician either.

Katie Couric states "It's all about the energy you exude on a daily basis" She advises to listen to your inner compass, and where you feel what makes you feel truly alive.

Oprah says, "Everyone has the power for greatness—not for fame but greatness, because greatness is determined by service." All of us need a vision for our lives and even as we work to achieve the vision, we must surrender it to the power that is greater than we know. God can dream a bigger dream for you than you could ever dream for yourself. Success comes when you surrender to that dream—and let it lead you to the next best place.

This is what was said about Margret Thatcher. "She herself was not an original thinker, and on her resignation the editor of the Daily Telegraph described Thatcherism as a powerful collection of beliefs about the capacities of human beings in a political society.  The secret of her success lies in a combination of qualities, which both saw her into leadership and were the essence of her period in power"
Courage to see an opportunity and take it.
 Decisiveness in times of crisis.
Clear beliefs held with an evangelical zeal.
Physical strength. She needed little sleep and would certainly have been killed by the IRA bomb in Brighton if she had not been working on her conference speech at 2:00 a.m.
Intellectual capacity. She entered Oxford at 17 reading chemistry.

Madonna even though her first love is music, is actually a very successful business woman. She was named in Forbes as one of the top successful business women.

She gives five advice on success
1. Never Give Up
When Madonna was a young girl, she didn’t have any money. What she did have was an endless amount of persistence and an incredible drive for success.
2.  Be Limitless If you try something and you find out that it doesn’t work out for you, don’t hesitate to take a new direction.
3.Collaboration- If you try to do everything alone, you make things very hard for yourself. Always try to find the best people to cooperate with. Don’t try to be an expert in everything, but instead focus on what you are good at and find skilled people to do things that are out of your expertise.
4. Know What Sells- Madonna has thought about the things she is passionate about and then searched for the opportunities to follow her passion by doing something that people are ready to pay for.
5. Evolve-Every business idea and product has a lifespan, and nothing lasts forever, so even though everything might look perfect for your blog or your business right now, always be ready to evolve if you notice that consumers’ preferences are starting to change.
Evolving also means learning new skills and becoming better at what you do. Life changes and those people, who can change with it, can ride a wave of success for the longest

We don't have all these qualities in each of these successful women, but I think if we dig deep enough within, we can find the best qualities which fit us.

I feel we can look and study successful people, and try to put their advice to use in whatever we are trying to achieve.

I also feel how we think and feel about our self, and our own abilities affect our success.
I am working on this part now..

Who do you admire and what do you feel makes you feel successful?

SOME DAYS

You know the saying, "Some-days your the baseball, some days your the bat". Well some days your the mouse and some days your the cat.
Some days your the limbs and some days the wind
Some days you just can't  seem to win..

Other days your the statue then the bird
Some days your the cattle lost in the herd.
Some days you can't win only loose, but you keep plugging along, because giving up you refuse..
Some days your the sunshine other days the rain, some days are just a big pain.
Some days your the rose other days the thorn, pricking anyone who might touch even your arm.

Life is strange to say the least and you never know where each day may lead.
There are roads leading everywhere, twisting, turning, here and there... To choose the right one is all you care.

Sometimes your the ocean- other times the stone-- washed up trying to feel at home.
Each day is exciting to say the least.
Just try to be all you can be.
People come into your life some just for a short while. Some are here to help in the bad, to cheer you up, so you won't feel so sad. Some are here for you to be a friend, because only you know "The shoes they've walked in.
Others are here to stay, to be family and friends the rest of your days.
So just be yourself that's all you can do, "To thy own self be true"

Smile in the good times and the bad.. Find some humor to make you glad.
Surround yourself with the one's who make you laugh..
For Laughter is truly the best medicine ever had

MY IDEAL CUSTOMER

I am in a team on Etsy, Promotional Frenzy Team, and they have a contest going which I meant to enter but I didn't get my
entry in time.
My shop on Etsy is Gina's Corner Crafts
                                  Ginascornercrafts.etsy.com
By the way, the Promotional Frenzy Team have some wonderful handmade artist, if you would like to check them out. https://www.etsy.com/teams   /7512/promotional-frenzy-team/members

The contest was what would our ideal customer be like.

I ran that through my mind through the week, but couldn't formulate in my mind exactly what he or she would be like, until today.  It's too late to enter, but this is what my "Ideal Customer" would be like.

This is what we were asked to answer.

? What is your ideal customer's favorite movie?
? List two (2) of your ideal customer's hobbies.
? What is one (1) need of your ideal customer?
? Briefly describe how your products meet that need.

                      My Ideal Customer

My ideal customer's movie would be comedies, because she loves to laugh and has a great sense of humor.
Her favorite movie though, is Gone With The Wind, because of the era it was made, the history behind it, all the gorgeous gowns and jewelry, and the rich heritage that she shares with the South.

One of her favorite things to do would be shopping in my store of course.
She loves nature and anything different and unusual.

She likes gardening and flowers are her passion. Since she enjoys handmade items she really loves my pencil shaving flowers. She actually mixes a few of my flowers with flowers of her choice in a vase to add variety

                                       https://www.etsy.com/listing/114349039

She searches for hand blown vases, and any vases that are unusual. She has ordered a few of my vases, and has been sending her friends to my shop who admires the one's I sold her.

Another of her favorite item to order is jewelry. She enjoys various jewelry that is unusual and handmade, and some that has crystals, natural gems, and semi precious stones, not just diamonds.  She sometimes buys jewelry with a Native American theme made with leather products.

                                https://www.etsy.com/listing/150444436/

One of her hobbies is hunting rocks with natural gemstones and minerals that shine.

One of my quartz crystal rocks

                                One of my favorite rocks

She also collects dolls and is always checking to see what I have to add to her collection.

And, since coca cola is her favorite soft drink she collects coca cola items. You could say she is a "Cola Fan"

                          https://www.etsy.com/listing/123288946/

Oh, did I add she LOVES hats!

                       https://www.etsy.com/listing/153682914/

She relaxes by turning the lights down low, and lighting candles of different sorts and scents. Since she likes the unusual and different, she is always searching for candles that catch her fancy..

                                  https://www.etsy.com/listing/118324279/

She visits my shop for my flowers, jewelry, hats, and vases, because some of my hats have vintage gemstones hand embellished on them. My jewelry is unique in it's own way, and, she knows she won't find flowers like mine anywhere else..

In fact "My Ideal Customer" kind of sounds like ME...

Handmade For Dad

As everyone knows Father's Day is Sunday June 16th.
My Dad has got to be the hardest Father to buy for in the world! (Well, maybe not the world, might be a little exaggeration here), but he is SO hard to buy for.
My parents get what they want through the year, all year long.
How in the world do you buy something for them?
I can't afford him a personal star named after him,or some elaborate gift such as that. Who came up with that idea anyway? None one owns the stars, so they shouldn't be allowed to make money from "buying" one. Just my personal belief of course.
Anyway, I was browsing through all the handmade items on Etsy.
Handmade is the best gifts you can give anyone. You can find one of a kinds that no one else will have but him.

If your Dad is no longer with you a good idea is to do what we do for my husband on Mother's Day. We get his Mom and my Grandmother balloons, write a note, and send them off. It makes you feel you are still honoring them. I wrote a blog and posted pictures on Mother's Day about that.

I love the team I am in on Etsy, Promotional Frenzy Team. I personally feel we have some of the best handmade artist on this team, so I am posting some great pictures with the items that some of them created.

At the end of the pictures will be a link to a Treasury I made with more of these very talented members items. I will also have a link with all the members names and stores, so you can browse more awesome gift ideas.
I am sure you will find something special for your Dad, that you wont find in the stores..
