An attribute to my hero

I'm sure we all have people who we look up to, or have looked up to in this life. People who aspire us, who seem to have a lasting affect on our memories.

I have at least two of these people that brought so much to my life.
Today is one of their birthdays. She would have been 57 today.
She is my cousin, Charlotte, who had muscle dystrophy.
She was the same age as I , we were like sisters, and since I didn't have a sister she became my sister also, not only my cousin.
Our Mother's were sisters and they were both pregnant with us at the same time. My Mother had a 2month jump on my aunt. My birthday was in May and Charlotte's in July of the same year.

When  Charlotte was around 4-5 yrs old she started falling down a lot. My aunt and uncle took her to a specialist, which started a long line of test and operations. At that time the medical field didn't know what exactly was wrong with her, for that was around 1960.

When we started school Charlotte was in braces, and I would hold one side of her while we walked. I stayed in at recess with her, because she couldn't go out and play like the other kids. She would stand at the window and watch them.

Charlotte was amazing! I admired her so much that I never felt sorry for her as she got older.
I would pick her up and we would go shopping together, we went to the movies, we did everything together.
If people stared at her in her wheelchair while we were shopping, I would just start pushing her really fast down the aisles, running down anyone in our way and she would laugh. I only wanted to make her laugh, and give her enjoyment.

She was very smart and made better grades in school than I. She didn't have to study much to get an A, where I had to study my butt off to get a B or C.
When we were in the 4th-5th grades, I sat behind her and when we were having a test, she would slide her paper over when I didn't know an answer for me to see.. I KNOW.. We shouldn't have been cheating lol.
If she was feeling ornery that day she wouldn't let me look..(fond memories)

Around the age of 17 Charlotte met this boy, that she was crazy about. He started coming over and staying a lot and just hanging around. She found herself pregnant and he asked my uncle if he could marry her.
She had such a hard time carrying her son. She couldn't walk for exercise. But, you know what she COULD do? She could swim... I would watch her in amazement when they put her in the water. She would be half way on top and half way on bottom of the water, and she swam like nothing I'd ever seen before. She made motions like a frog swimming. Another thing I admired since I couldn't swim at all!
When she got very far along in her pregnancy she wasn't able to swim, so she didn't get any exercise.
When Christopher was born, she refused to let anyone help her any more than was needed. She fed him, she changed his diaper, and they would put him in his little tub on the table so she could bathe him.

Around 6yrs later she had another child, Kailee. She went down fast after Kailee was born. Her lung collapsed and her fingers were drawn in so bad she couldn't do as much for her as she did for Christopher. (Unfortunately, Kailee also has muscle dystrophy, and is now in a wheelchair.)
But, once again she amazed me. She would  put a pencil in her  mouth and draw! Her drawings were truly a work of art. She drew this huge life like Senorita with such detail. She had her hanging in her bedroom, and when I visited, I would just stand and stare at what she had created.
I wish we could had Charlotte noticed then, but we didn't have all the social media's as we do now. I am sure all the networks would have her on their shows.
She had a few attorneys and Dr's from our hometown buy her drawings. They had a hard time believing she had drawn with a  pencil in her mouth.
I watched her draw, and once again she did something that I couldn't do, and wished I could.
My admiration went up more for this talented, strong willed cousin of mine.

Her husband found someone else, and left Charlotte, when Kailee was about 2yrs old and it seemed to break her totally.  He told her he wanted someone he could dance with. JERK!
Her health got worse, and there were days she wouldn't talk to anyone not even me.

She left us and went to the Lord around 7yrs ago, where I am sure she is free from all pain, and is dancing now.

I believe these special souls are put here for us to learn from. We can watch and learn how to be brave and strong, even in the worst times of our lives..

Charlotte today on your birthday.. I want you to know I admire you and love you, and you have always been, and will always be an inspiration to me and my hero!

This is Charlotte holding my oldest daughter. She would ride her around in her wheelchair, and every time we went to visit, she would beg for a ride.

This is Charlotte with her daughter, Kailee and my Aunt Fredine, her Mom.

This is Charlotte's two children, Christopher and Kailee

Kailee turned out to be as intelligent as her Mother, and she graduated. She is also married now, and I wish her the best in life

Personalities

There are different personalities this we all know to be true
What a boring world it would be if everyone were just like me or you.
There are humorous ones who make us laugh, lift us up when we are down,  they were the "Class Clowns"

Some are too serious about life, never smiling always seeming gloom, they seem to be looking right through you.

Some people are go getters they never seem to stop, running to and fro until they make it to the top.

There are the one's who are always looking for something not in sight, chasing the dream that will make things alright.

Some are after the dollar no matter what they have to do, they will stab you in the back and then laugh at you.

And Some just struggle to make it through.

There are one's who are so intelligent you can learn much, wishing you knew how their minds work.

Others make more money than they really should,  just for playing sports or for looking good.

We all have our mask, we all have our friends who never leave no matter what mood we are in.

To some we show and others we hide what is in our real lives...

We are all here doing our best, and each personality has their own "Life's Test".

I found 16 personalities types but I am going to just name a few. See if you see yourself in any of them.

Dogs Who Look Like Their Owners

We are a  nation for the most part who loves our animals.
There are some that abuse these loving friends, and nothing makes me madder! If I had the money I would buy acres of land, and rescue every abused animal I came across, and hire people to take care of each one of them.
I know that will never happen, but I can love my "doggie daughter" while I have her. Her name is Cookie and she is very spoiled! I named her Cookie, because when we got her as a puppy she was all black except a small part under her chest which was white. I told my husband,"She looks like an oreo cookie". Hence the name Cookie was born..
Cookie is part lab and part Brittany spaniel, and she has big floppy ears and little short legs, but looks like a lab.

I love seeing pictures of pets who they say look like their owners, so I thought I would share a few.. See what you think.

                             This is my dog Cookie..

Now, let's see  if any of these precious animals really look like their owners.

Caption: Some say dogs look like their owners I think it's just a myth.

They for sure have the same hairdo

Looks like one of the Ladie's just chillin out and chatting

                                                            Looks like twins to me

I love the look on this dog's face!

                                                      Just two guys having fun

                                                            Ummm Yeah!

                                                             LOL!

                                                 Ladies have to stick together

                                         Too adorable for words!

Can't look anymore alike than this!

I guess we can even look like our other pets!

                                                                Oh My!

Here are a few celebrities with their loved pets

And in "Loving Memory" of a few of my pets that are no longer with me.

This is Sarah. She was a rescue dog, and we got her when she was an old lady. Her owner had died and they were going to put her to sleep. She had such character, and acted like she knew everything you were saying. If she didn't like what you were saying, she would give you a dirty look!

This is Bear. He was a long hair Sharpee. I couldn't keep him any longer, because of the Apts I had to move to, so I let my brother take him for me. He died of cancer recently after having his leg amputated.

Another one of Bear, and my brothers Sharpee, "Lady Blue"

This is Jack. He is a Rott. He was originally my ex's dog, so he is  still there with him in Oregon. I miss Jack very much. We went tromping through the backwoods of Oregon together and he was a great watchdog.

This is Queenie, she was a German Shepard, and one of the first dogs I had. This is a very old picture with her and my son Cory. She was very protective of Cory, and even jumped the fence when Cory got out of the fenced in yard one day.. We lived on a very busy highway, and the paper boy came to tell me my 3yr old son was on the Hwy, but he couldn't get to him because Queenie was keeping him off the highway, and wouldn't let him even up to Cory.

This is Creole. I miss him still everyday! He was probably the smartest dog I have ever owned. He was part Rott, and part Cow Dog. He loved to "herd, and he would herd my cat out of the woods when I told him to.

World's Longest Yard Sale

I had never heard of the World's Longest Yard Sale until I moved here to Ky.
Every year in Aug this sale starts and my husband and I look forward to it!
I take some of my fridge magnet flowers I create from pencil shavings and pass them out, along with my business cards.
I try to be very selective to whom I give them to, because they are very time consuming to make.
We have met some very interesting people from all over the world every year.
As I was looking at pictures for the blog, it made me want to go even more, and I am "chomping at the bits' to go this year!
There are many more pictures that will give you an idea of what it's about.. You can Google it and find more info. Just Google Hwy 127 Sale.

This is what the advertisement states about the Hwy 127 Sale, which it is also called, because it's on the 127 corridor

It is aptly titled, “The Worlds Longest Yard Sale!” Every year individuals clean out their closets and stake out their front yards along the Hwy 127 corridor stretching over 690 miles from Addison, Michigan to Gadsden, Alabama. They band together as communities, in groups or as individuals and over a four-day weekend they welcome the onslaught of visitors from the North, South East and West. It is a mutual exchange of cultures with a common goal; to look, buy and sale! As you transverse the country roads, you will hear a collection of dialects, be privy to incredible stories related to the individuals and the items they sale and see a plethora of items that only your grandmother could love. Most importantly, I think most come to see the unusual and socialize. It is Americana at it’s best.

NOW 690 MILES!
From 5 Miles North of Addison, Michigan
to Gadsden, Alabama

It is headquartered in Jamestown, Tennessee but goes from West Unity, Ohio to Gadsden, Alabama.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people travel Highway 127 looking for bargains from homeowners, professional dealers and vendors.

Since it is over 600 miles, there are very lovely scenery to be had along the way.

People set up all along the sides of the hwy in tents and Rv's to sell their treasures

There are LOTS to choose from and serious Yard Sellers. Last year the guys from American Pickers, Frank and Mike, came to find their own picks here.

It doesn't matter what you are looking for you can definitely find it at the Hwy 127 Sale.

If you are close enough to go to this awesome "Once A Year" event I encourage you to go. I guarantee you won't regret it and will want to go back each year after!
